Madison HLAA was founded in 2010 by a small group of interested hearing impaired individuals. In its two years of existence, it has steadily grown to become a viable, working organization. Organized as a Chapter 501(c)3 corporation, all donations are tax deductible.
The Madison Hearing Loss Association is a chapter of the national Hearing Loss Association of America. This organization has been instrumental in advocating for equal access and political empowerment for approximately 26 million Americans with hearing loss. Both organizations work with industry and government to expand access to mainstream assistive technologies, enforce existing disability laws, and introduce new legislation, regulations, and standards that impact the lives of people with hearing loss. HLAA promotes self-advocacy for its constituents to ensure equal opportunity in the areas of telecommunications, employment, health care, education, and community life.
